Javier Aguirre: The team is motivated and confident

The boss looked ahead to our trip to FC Barcelona

Javier Aguirre says he and his side are more than ready to compete with FC Barcelona this weekend.

With the title won by the Catalan club already this season and our LaLiga football secured for another season, the boss believes that both sides still have plenty to play for.

"We have to go out and compete. When we didn't over the course of these 36 games, they got the better of us. Although it was only a few times. We can't go there to speculate or to be part of any party.

“We have to go and compete with our faults and our virtues; with our weapons and our tools. We'll try to win the game, that's what our bodies are asking us to do. Every match is different. We're in a good frame of mind, recovered after the home win.

“With the peace of mind of having done our homework. All these factors come together to make us go out to the Camp Nou attentive.

"I see a team with the peace of mind that we have taken a weight off our shoulders. We have 47 points and we are happy.”

We will be without the suspended Kang in Lee and Antonio Sánchez, as well as Dennis Hadžikadunić who will miss out due to injury, but with club legend Sergio Busquets playing his final game in front of the home ground, the boss believes the midfielder deserves a send off full of respect.

"Three more players have been added to the ones we already had,” the boss revealed. “We are missing Kang in Lee and Antonio Sanchez due to accumulation of cards, as well as Dennis due to a ruptured fibrillation. So we have seven absentees.

"It's going to be a beautiful day,” he added. “A great player is leaving Barcelona and we will have to honour the champion. They have had a well-deserved and good season.”
