Match Report: FC Barcelona 3-0 RCD Mallorca

We suffer a frustrating defeat at the Spotify Camp Nou

A brace from Ansu Fati and a goal from Gavi saw us fall to a 3-0 defeat against FC Barcelona in the penultimate game of the season.

With Kang-In Lee and Antonio Sanchez missing through suspension, academy product Josep Gaya started in central defence while Dominik Grief was named in goal.

We could not have wished for a worse start as Fati gave the hosts the lead inside the first minute Gavi teed up the winger to finish from close ranger.

Things went from bad to worse in the 13th minute as Amath received his marching orders for a mistimed challenge.

FC Barcelona doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Robert Lewandowski flicked the ball in behind for Fati to then finish.

Grief ensured that we headed into the break only two goals behind with a string of good saves as we had it all to do in the second half.

We still struggled to find our groove as FC Barcelona first hit the bar just a minute after the restart before Lewandowski struck the woodwork with a curling free-kick in the 67th minute.

Gavi found the back of the net from distance in the 70th minute with a powerful shot to make it 3-0 and condemn us to defeat.
