Jagoba Arrasate: “Our plan is to defend well and be effective in attack"

The boss looked ahead to facing Real Madrid

Jagoba Arrasate spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference prior to our visit to the Santiago Bernabéu. Find out what the boss had to say below.

On the game plan: The point from the other day gives you energy, and during the week you work differently. Tomorrow, the idea is not to lose focus during the match. In these scenarios, you can lose the match in five or 10 minutes, and we have to stay focused to compete and have options at the end.

On last year's match: We have to try to repeat what we did last year in terms of competing and staying in the game. Our plan is to defend very well and be effective in attack. We have to implement the plan that best suits us at any given moment. They press well after losing possession and are more organised with the ball; they have hardly had any chances in these two games.

On Samu Costa's condition: He's fine, he wanted to be ready for last week's match. He's done all the training sessions as normal and is ready to play tomorrow.

On Jan Virgili: He's a versatile player who can play on the left or right. I saw him last year when he came with Barça's youth team and we'd been following him for a while. For us, he's a very good signing and I think all three parties come out on top.

On the transfer window closing: I'm open to it because there are last-minute situations that can arise. As long as it's to improve the squad, we have to be alert and there may be some news.
