Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-0 Valencia CF

Vedat Muriqi scored the only goal of the game as we returned to winning ways

Vedat Muriqi’s second-half strike was the difference as we beat Valencia CF 1-0 at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

With a number of players still missing from injury, Javier Aguirre experimented with Kang-In Lee on the left flank as Amath started on the right wing.

The visitors has the better start to the game despite chances being few and far between, with Predrag Rajkovic only having to contend with a few off-target efforts.

The first real chance of the evening fell to Diego López who was denied by our shot stopper from close range after Samuel Lino had fired the ball across goal on the half-hour mark.

Fans had to wait until the stroke of half-time before we had a sight at goal as Amath curled an effort into the hands of Mamardashvili as we headed into the break level.

We took the lead in the 64th minute when Kang-In Lee raced down the wing and teased a cross into the box which saw Muriqi head home from close range.

Rajkovic had to be at his best to deny Justin Kluivert’s fierce strike late on, but we held on to ensure all three points stayed on the island.
