Match Report: Getafe 3-1 RCD Mallorca

We suffer a tough defeat away from home in our fight for survival

We had a night to forget in the capital as we fell to a 3-1 defeat against Getafe in our fight for survival.

Martin Demichelis handed Luis Orejuela de la Rosa his first start at left back while he was joined in the starting XI by fellow academy product David Lopez who partnered Martin Valjent in central defence.

Zito Luvumbo had our first sight at goal in the fourth minute when a rapid counter attack resulted in him having space on the edge of the box, although a tame effort was comfortably saved by David Soria.

Martin Satriano gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute when he poked home from close range after a low ball was fired across the box.

Vedat Muriqi came close to finding an equaliser just before the half-hour mark when he climbed highest to meet a Sergi Darder corner and crash a header against the crossbar.

Satriano got his second of the game when he capitalised on a defensive mix up and rolled the ball into an empty net in the 41st minute.

Things would go from bad to worse shortly after the restart as Zaid Romero made it three in the 63rd minute when he headed home from a set-piece.

Omar Mascarell managed to pull a goal back two minutes later when he flicked home a set-piece into the far corner, although it would prove too little too late as we were unable to create anything of note in the final third.
