Antonio Sánchez and Jagoba Arrasate discussed our 1-0 defeat to RC Deportivo in the Copa del Rey. Find out what the boss and our midfielder had to say below:
Antonio Sánchez:
On the defeat: We're disappointed because I think the team is full of enthusiasm. After winning the Copa del Rey last year, the team was eager to enjoy it again and generate that same excitement we had two years ago. We're disappointed because we missed out on the next round by a single detail.
On the performance: The match unfolded as we expected. I think we dominated in that sense; we created chances, and I don't think the second half changed much. We continued to control the game, we created chances, but when they get close, they score. They have quality, and some very good players came on, and they scored on almost their only opportunity.
On the next match: This should be a learning experience, and it should hurt. Starting tomorrow, we'll focus on Mestalla.
Jagoba Arrasate:
On the match: It's a shame, we started the match well. I think we were focused and a little bit better than them. We defended well, and it's a pity we couldn't make the changes we wanted. It's disappointing.
On what was missing: In the first half, we lacked accuracy, and in the second, we needed more control. We finished with little attacking threat, and the substitutions we made were certainly offensive, but we couldn't use them due to injuries and fatigue.
On the next match: Friday is just around the corner, and it's a very important match. But it's true that right now we're disappointed.
