Match Report: Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 RCD Mallorca

Noe Carrillo’s 85th minute goal sees our Copa del Rey campaign end in the round of 32

Our Copa del Rey campaign ended in the round of 32 with a 1-0 defeat at Deportivo La Coruña courtesy of Noe Carrillo’s 85th minute goal.

Jagoba Arrasate rotated his side with Marash Kumbula, David Lopez, Toni Lato and Mateu Morey making up a new back four while Abdon Prats led the line as centre forward.

Takuma Asano would have our first opportunity at goal in the opening stages although he was unable to make meaningful contact in the six-yard-box with successive attempts on a loose ball in the box.

Javi Llarbes on the opposite wing was also causing problems and would force a good save with a long-distance effort.

Chances were few and far between however and we headed into the break goalless.

The hosts started the second half the better side and hit the woodwork shortly after the restart with Mulattieri striking the crossbar with a powerful volley from the edge of the box.

Pablo Maffeo would later do the same when he arrived at the back post and rattled the underside of the bar.

It was not to be our night as Carrillo poked home from close range after Nsongo had hit the post and a loose ball bounced freely in the six-yard box.

We head back to the island with our Copa del Rey journey having ended with a frustrating late defeat.
