Antonio Sánchez, Amath and Ángel spoke to the media after our 1-1 draw with Elche. Ezequiel Ponce gave the hosts the lead in the first half after Vedat Muriqi missed an early penalty, but out striker made no mistake from the spot to secure us a point away from home in a game where both sides reached the final whistle with 10 men. Antonio Sanchez
"Yes, it is true that it has been a strange situation and that the weather has been a little strange, but in the end we played. I think the team played a very good first half. We created a lot of chances. The penalty and some more.
"I think we could have taken the lead in the first half. In the end, that's football and we didn't make the most of our chances.
It was a strange match. In the first half we deserved much more and the second half was very conditioned by the two sending-offs, but overall, I think we were a team that came out for the match and in normal situations, if we play like this, I think we would get many more points."
Amath
"In the end we were able to play and we played a good match. We started well, having several chances, but we didn't know how to take advantage of them.
"In the end, they scored a goal with one of their chances. We wanted to level the match before the second half, but it wasn't to be. In the second half, we came out with everything. We had the game under control until Muriqi was sent off and that hurt us a bit. But, well, the team kept order and work".
"I hadn't played for a long time. The injury has lasted, but in the end, I'm here. I've regained my feeling and now we have to keep working."
Ángel Rodríguez
"It's a difficult match to analyse. At the beginning we started well, we had many chances to take the lead, but it wasn't possible. Then a penalty in our favour, an expulsion in which they were left with one less and we had control of the match and we were not able to score a goal and take the lead on the scoreboard.
In the first half they had one and scored it. It was all a bit against the tide. We have to analyse a lot of mistakes, especially in attack. We have to be more effective in front of goal. In LaLiga, if you don't score goals, you are penalised - that was a reality today."
