Amath Ndiaye: “I feel good. My objective is to return as soon as possible”

The forward spoke to club media after his recovery from injury

Amath Ndiaye says he is ready to get back to full training as his recovery from foot surgery steps up.

The forward underwent a medical procedure to deal with a longstanding issue, but believes he is almost ready to help out the side once again.

"I'm very well and I'm recovering well,” he told club media. “Since the operation everything has gone very well and I'm much better now.

"It was something that happened to me when I was in Tenerife. I had the operation and for four years I played without problems until last year when I couldn't join pre-season with the team. During the season it bothered me so much it got to the point I was not able to play towards the end of the league. This year it was decided to operate on me again.

"The two or three days after the operation were very difficult. It's an operation, so I had a terrible time. When I got through those three days I was in another world and from the hospital bed I was already smiling and making jokes. I was very happy and calm. What happened is behind me. You only have the memories, but when you get out of the hospital bed, you have to move forward.

"We’re a team and if a teammate gets injured, what they can do is encourage you and support you - from the first day until the last day you come back and that way you feel strong and eager to get back on the pitch."

Having signed for the club originally on loan before turning his deal into a permanent stay, the forward reflected on his arrival at the club and how he is supporting the team from the sidelines.

"I was coming off a long injury. I had not played for months and when they told me to come to RCD Mallorca I didn't think about it. I got back to my level, everything went well and I was able to get promoted with RCD Mallorca.

"At the moment I have to watch the games from the stands and the only thing I can do at the moment is to support in the dressing room and in training. When a player is injured he has to support from the outside - it's his duty.

"My goal is to return as soon as possible. And for the team to be as high as possible in the league. My wish is that we don't suffer too much."
