Javier Aguirre: “We will give what we have, we won’t hold anything back”
The boss reflected on our start to the season
Javier Aguirre says he is happy with our start to the season as we sit in 10th position after six games with a total of eight points.
Having taken over at the helm towards the end of last season, our boss also believes there is more to come from his side.
“I think we are where we should be,” he told club media. “I think the team defends better than it attacks and we are focused on that: on improving the forward, organisational and combinative aspects.
“We are looking for solutions to the problems we face, especially at home. We are looking for better play, more numbers, greater fluidity and that's what we are working on. I think we are a team that defends well. We have that very clear. We know well that we are solid. With the ball is where we are missing [one or two things], we can all have a better game.
"Since we have been here there have been 15 matches: we have won six, we have lost six and we have drawn three. More balance than that? I don't know. So for us it is a lot.
With a trip to Barcelona awaiting us upon our return to LaLiga action after the international break, Aguirre says his side are ready to give their all this season.
“I think we can be calm and keep our heads held high knowing that we give what we have,” he continued. “We are not holding anything back.
“We are going to fight until the end at the cost of blood, sweat and tears, to defend this shirt and for people to go home proud of what they see, and if that is in the La Liga, all the better.
“For us to be in LaLiga is something very good and people value it. The fans are happy, we are happy. If we are able to stay up, and on top of that play with the ball better, well, it would be fantastic.”
