Alejandro Pozo: ’We’re going to have a strong ‘mini pre-season’ to restart with a bang’

The Andalusican spoke to Play Red about getting match fit ahead of a potential return to competitive fixtures

Alejandro Pozo says he and his team-mates are prepared to put in whatever work is necessary to ensure we quickly recapture form prior to the suspension of competitive football.

Having recorded two wins and a draw in our final four games prior to the enforced break, the 21-year-old believes group training via videocall during lockdown could give the side an edge of potential competition.

"If the league returns, we want to be as good as when it stopped,” he said. “We came from winning our first game away from Son Moix and we were feeling confident. I think we’re the only team in Spain that has trained everyday by video call and that has helped us be at our best. We’re ready to compete again at any time.

“At home you train hard, but it’s not the same as being on the field. Being able to put on your boots, touch the ball, run on the grass – that’s very different from running at home on a treadmill. The team is really looking forward to playing on the pitch again and hopefully we’ll get to compete again. It’s what we all want: to be able to finish this league on the field and stay up on merit.”
