Zito Luvumbo returns to RCD Mallorca.

Having impressed since joining in January, the forward has come back to the island for another season on loan with an option to buy. Find out what Zito had to say about the decision and his aims for the season below. 

How do you feel about returning to RCD Mallorca?

I feel good; I’m happy to be back in a place where I had the chance to play last season. I really enjoyed it and, thank God, we’re back here again.

What made you want to come back?

I was really keen to return because last year, when I arrived, I could feel the affection and warmth of our supporters. I didn’t hesitate to come back and try to help the team achieve our goal.

What’s your mindset going into this new season following the end of last season?

Everyone knows and saw how last season ended. It wasn’t the ending we wanted, nor the one I personally hoped for or dreamed of, but that’s part and parcel of football. Now we’re here once again and we’re all going to fight together, united, to try and achieve our goal.

We’ve seen that your family and friends are wearing the Mallorca shirt. What does Mallorca mean to you and those around you?

My passion for the club wasn’t just my own. My friends, my brothers and my family also really liked the team and, especially, the shirt. I had to buy a few to give to everyone. We’re all very happy and now we’re all Mallorca fans.

What are you hoping for from this new season?

I hope we show the same commitment we did last year, even though we were a bit unlucky. This year, I think that, with the support of the fans, the new manager and the club’s board, we can achieve great things.

I imagine you’re looking forward to seeing your team-mates again and meeting the new manager.

Yes. Some of my team-mates have been playing in the World Cup and others, unfortunately, have left. I’m really looking forward to meeting the new manager. I haven’t had the chance to speak to him in person yet, but I’m keen to do so. I’ve had a glimpse of his approach and I’m ready. 

What message do you want to send to the fans?

I want to tell them that we’re back. I know that the situation we’ve been in hasn’t been what we all hoped for, but I’m convinced and confident that we can have a great season. Stand with us – we’re in this together and we’re going to fight until the very end.
