The winger spoke with Play Red about the possibility of La Liga football getting back underway and his objectives for the remainder of the season
Yannis Salibur says unity could be the key ahead of a potential return to competitive football.
Having transitioned into phase three of full training and now able to work in groups of 10, the Frenchman believes the squad is making good progress ahead of what could be a first game back against FC Barcelona at Son Moix.
“It’s a pleasure to get back onto the pitch and close to your team-mates,” he told Play Red. “We haven't played in a long time but we’re training really well. The team is working hard to avoid any potential injuries during the adaptation period, but the most important thing is the group and for the team to achieve results. We have a very close dressing room and that’s very important. I’ve played in teams similar to this Mallorca aside and unity has always been key.”
“We’ve thought a little bit about FC Barcelona, but first we need to work, work and work. When the schedule is clear, we can think about it more because we’re going to face a spectacular team and it will be an important match. We have to be ready. ”
Playing for the first time outside of France having joined the club earlier this summer, Salibur has been able to share his experience of adaptation to the demands of Spanish football with a close friend in the capital.
“Eden Hazard and I are very good friends,” he revealed. “We met about 15 years ago and we've got great friendship. Our families are very close and our children are friends also. In fact, the oldest son of Eden is named ‘Yannis’, while my oldest son is called ‘Eden’ like him.”
