We have progressed to the next round of the Copa del Rey courtesy of Javi Llarbes’ strike and Abdon’s brace in a 3-2 win at CD Numancia.
Jagoba Arrasate rotated his side and named Pichu Cuellar in goal as the shot stopper became the oldest player to represent the club.
We got off to a dream start when Llarbes opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a fine finish after a flowing team move.
The hosts looked to provide a response and came close through Jony and then De Frutos but neither chance made Pichu have to work.
Abdon doubled our lead in the 25th minute when he reacted first to a loose ball in the box and fired home from close range to ensure we headed into the break two goals to the good.
The hosts pulled a goal back after the restart in the 54th minute when Jonatan Crespo found the back of the net by connecting with a cross from Matos.
We restored our two-goal cushion in the 64th minute courtesy of an Abdon penalty, and while CD Numancia were able to set up a tense finish after Danese scored in the 76th minute, we held on to ensure our name was in the hat for the next round of the tournament.
