Vicente Moreno: “Every game is in the past and positions determine little”
The manager spoke at his pre-match press conference ahead of Atletico Madrid's visit to Son Moix
Vicente Moreno says his side are excited to host a team of Atletico Madrid’s quality at Son Moix this Wednesday evening.
While the visitors have started strong with 10 points from their opening five games, the manager believes a higher league position doesn’t affect what can happen on the pitch.
“Players and managers are always excited to be able have games against opponents like we'll receive tomorrow,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “We’re lucky, it’s an exciting time and we're motivated to compete and have a good game in order to win.
“Every game is in the past and league positions determine little. In Atletico Madrid I see a lot of various options. It depends on how the opposition utilities that, but on top of this, they're very different and shoot, so that tells you that they have a lot of tactical variations. What we have to do in every gave is to give 100% and with this, we have options to win, draw and lose as well.”
A sold out Son Moix will undoubtedly do their best to make Rojiblancos’s visit an uncomfortable one and Moreno is under no illusion regarding the impact this can have on a potential result.
“It’s an important role,” he continued. “They have always have fulfilled it when we have played. We have always been very in tune with those who come to our club. This year they have had the same importance and we’re going to have difficulties. Everything the fans do to animate the players helps us reach our objectives and they are never easy.”
