The manager hails great level and sacrifice by players
Fernando Vazquez has met the press euforic after the first league win. The dressing room was chuffed after breaking this really bad run and dubbed the victory as “needed” and even “balsamic”. The manager in this sense has given heavy importance to these three points as they come beating a great rival who is “profilic at scoring, extremely dangerous upfront and always complicated. To leave the most prolific rival goalless is an achievement and we have to go back home very proud. Clean sheet, many chances for us – we were good today”.
The Galician sees the team bridging “closer to where we want to be. This week we play Thursday and then Sunday. It will be the beginning of a great week, hopefully.” He loves the solidity of the team’s defence and how the team controls it on the pitch, “and if we can keeping the ball, even better. We are doing it, without hassle, we just have to improve when we do not own the ball, at those stages”.
Vazquez guaranteed the players give their all and “today they have shown their level. I am so satisfied”. The manager also mentioned that in case of winning the remaining game in the week we “would have gone past the bad start” and it is possible that given the many games in few days, rotation is “a concern as I have to check how players are faring”.
Finally, the reminded everyone about how level the division is, “budgets are practically the same, squad as well. It is a competition where three points are hard to clinch. We need to be more spot on than the rival. Goals do not come easy and it applies to us too”, he concluded.
