The gaffer warns against a dangerous Tenerife side in a very tactical game
Fernando Vazquez has gathered with the press ahead of the trip to Tenerife for what he expects a “very tactical and technical game, rather than physical from a rival that likes to hold the ball. If we want the ball, we will have to steal it from them, taking risks at times probably. In football whenever you win is thanks to the rival’s mistakes. The team whose defence is more concentrated will win”.
The head coach in this sense has admitted he is chuffed after the first victory as “victories make you smile and everything looks beautiful” and confessed that after it he and the players feel “relieved. What I want now is to climb up the table, but I want to connect with the fans through good results that should push us up”.
The Galician assured he is aware how demanding it is to play thrice in a week. In principle he will keep the same XI without much rotation, “at least for this game. After and looking towards Sunday, we will see how they are.” Good thing about so many days in so few days is that you can “add many points quickly. If we manage to win, we will climb nicely through a big jump. We need to be constant which is not easy”.
Lastly, the manager has owned up to the press that this week the team has been “shooting on goal. Hopefully that will help”, although he did praise the defensive solidity of the team. “If we don’t have a great scoring record, at least make it a solid backline. It has been shown that not conceding provides more points than not scoring. In my teams I normally do not concede many goals, he concluded.
