The managers rates players’ determination over any formation to be deployed
Fernando Vázquez has attended media channels in the build-up for their opening game versus Reus and has highlighted that the team “is ready to begin, physically they are strong and what we want is to compete. It has been quite a while since I have had a team with such intensity parameters and mental strength as this one”. In this light, the manager has responded that he has both line-up and strategy already prepared for tomorrow. He played down the importance of the system because, in his opinion, “always it has a lower priority than the strength and determination with which we will come out to the pitch”
The Galician remembres that three seasons in a row RCD Mallorca has begun the competition playing away, but “this year we play at the Iberostar our first game and I hope that the outcome also changes. We want to start with the right foot. I have always mentioned that a good start is key to the project”. The manager sees no contradiction between the Club’s rather conservative message (to stay up in Liga 123) and his more ambitious promotion pleas. “I know where I want to get; I repeat: my goal is to promote, but in order to do that we have to take it match by match. From modesty and hard work we will try first to get our three points tomorrow, and then win next one. We wish to be at the top from the first few weeks of the league, but the path to that will not be an easy one”.
With regard to the rival assured, that while it is a newly promoted team, it is a team that has been sculped through lots of hard work. “Defensively, for instance, “it is well very structured” and he has requested his players not to rest in their laurels. “The match will depend on our aggresivity and our strength. I want an intense team out there, with personality, one that does not commit defensive mistakes”. Vazquez reminded that if the team underrated their opponent, “it will be a difficult task. We have to play with modesty. This year there is a great deal of equality in the category”.
