Sergi Darder: "If we want to go up in the table, we have to win at Son Moix"

Find out what our midfielder said ahead of facing our former club

Sergi Darder spoke to club media ahead of our hosting of his former club RCD Espanyol this Saturday afternoon. Find out what our midfielder had to say ahead of the last game before the international break.

On Athletic Club: ‘I think the team competed very well on, for me, the most difficult pitch in the Primera División, because surely if you go to Madrid or Barcelona you do so knowing what can happen. On the other hand, going to Athletic's ground, you know you can score, but you know it's a very difficult ground, so we have to be very happy.’

On his form: ‘Every week we have one or two corners prepared. This week it was to look more for the near post area. The first corner I put in was going a little bit to the area, but between the fact that they weren't able to block the short ones and it was a little bit short, we tried in the second one to get the short one through a little bit. It was a good cross, but I've given many good crosses in my life, but it's true that the animals that get in make good crosses. A cross is nothing more than putting a ball into the box and they obviously make it easy.’

On the upcoming break: ‘As much as we have a lot of points now and it looks like staying up is easy, it's not like that. We have to give a lot of credit to what we are doing and it's true that, if you put this four in front, what you can do is go out every game with maximum ambition, as we are doing, but looking up and not down. So I think it has to be a key game. The break can be a lot of tough days if you don't win, but it's true that, if you win and go away with 40 points, it can be a huge joy for everyone’.

On Son Moix: ‘If we want to be at the top, it will be through Son Moix. Just look at the calendar. We have four or five home games where we have to get as many points as possible and I think that, if we are strong at home, we are sure to be in those positions.’

On RCD Espanyol: ‘Every day I feel better, more comfortable, and I think that as a group we have recovered the sensations of many matches without losing. If you do the combo, we're going with enthusiasm and excitement. For me this is the most special match of the season. Well, the second. The first I would say is the one in Cornellà and the second is the one here. I'm looking forward to seeing former teammates, staff that work there... people with whom I've spent many hours, many years, many days. I'm really looking forward to this day and being able to greet everyone. Obviously, to win, but from there, to wish them all the best and that hopefully they will be saved as soon as possible.’
