Pablo Torre and Samu Costa were on target as we overcame RCD Espanyol 2-1 in a win that moves us out of the bottom three.
Martin Demichelis opted to play Torre in the No.10 role while Mateo Joseph was named on the right flank in support of Vedat Muriqi.
Chances were few and far between in the opening exchanges until the 25th minute when two goaline clearances were made to first deny Martin Valjent and then Matteo Joseph.
The visitors had an instant response and the ball in the back of the net in the 30th minute, although the offside flag ruled out Kike’s chipped effort.
Charles Pickle opened the scoring on the 37th minute when the opposition midfielder ghosted into the box and put a deft touch on a dangerous ball.
It would prove to the decisive action of the first half as we headed into the dressing room with it all to do in the second half.
The game would swing in our favour shortly after the restart as Pickle was booked for a foul, but following revision with VAR, received a straight red card having showed studs on a challenge.
Torre levelled matters in the 65th minute when he capitalised on a loose ball on the edge of the box after Samu Costa had tried to get a shot away and found the bottom corner.
Samu Costa would be the match winner when he was fed the ball on the edge of the box, turned well and fired into the bottom corner in the 88th minute.
The win would see us climb out of the bottom three as Demichelis registered his first win as RCD Mallorca manager.
