NBA legend Steve Kerr visits RCD Mallorca

The Golden State Warriors boss visited our training ground

NBA legend and nine-time championship winner Steve Kerr visited the Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio and delivered a speech to our senior squad and staff.

The coach, who has won his fourth NBA championship title as a coach this year, followed Javier Aguirre's session alongside President Kohlberg, advisor Graeme Le Saux, Director of Football Pablo Ortells and Business CEO Alfonso Diaz.

Kerr later met the senior squad and coaching staff and discussed the similarities between basketball and football.

"Our job as coaches is to find the balance between both things, enjoying ourselves as children but competing as professionals,” Kerr told our players.

"I played 15 years in the NBA in which I won five rings. I was almost always a reserve, sometimes playing more than 20 minutes in a game and sometimes not playing at all. But always with the enthusiasm to be there. That's why as a coach I understand those who don't play on my team.

"Steph Curry enjoys shooting, running and even when he's on the bench, he enjoys watching his teammates play and compete. You see him play with a smile on his face.”

Kerr started his career with the Phoenix Suns, where he spent one season before later playing alongside Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.

He went onto win three consecutive rings, before signing with the San Antonio Spurs and winning a further two championships.

Kerr remains the player with the best three-point shooting percentage in NBA history.

Much like his playing career, the 56-year-old’s coaching career has been full of success having won four championship titles with the Golden State Warriors.

He is also currently the U.S. national coach.
