Muriqi, Bergström, Omar Mascarell and Jagoba Arrasate evaluate the win against Getafe

Find out what the boss and our players had to say about the win

Vedat Muriqi, Lucas Bergstrom, Omar Mascarell and Jagoba Arrasate spoke to the media after our 1-0 win against Getafe. Find out what they had to say below.

Vedat Muriqi

On the win: Before the break, we wanted to go into it with a win, feeling really good. That was our goal today, to win the match no matter what. And we did it, we're delighted, we're going into the break feeling calm and we'll have much more time to correct our mistakes and keep going for more.

On the first half: Of course, it was important to score first. And what I also liked today was that we scored after 15 or 16 minutes, I'm not sure exactly, but then for the rest of the game, 80 or 75 minutes, we were brutal in winning the duels. We defended well, although there were moments when they seemed to be putting us under pressure, but in the end we defended well and showed the team spirit that people had been missing.

On six goals this season: I feel really good, to be honest. I'm a striker and I know that here, even though I've done some good things, what always keeps me going are my goals, the numbers, right? And I'm delighted, 12 games, six goals, half a goal per game. For a striker, to be honest, that's great. And hopefully I won't stop, and I'll keep going for more.

Lucas Bergström

On the win: These were three important points. The team played very well. We worked together. We defended together. It's a very good win for the team today. And I hope we can keep it up. Right now, we need every point. And the three points today are huge for us.

On a clean sheet: Of course, a clean sheet builds confidence in the team. It's part of the game to be difficult to beat, and today we kept the chances to a minimum. If there's a chance, you have to work. That's your job as a goalkeeper. But I'm very happy with how the team worked today. In these types of games, it's very important to be effective and defensive. If you don't concede, you already have a point. It's the basics of football. And we did very well today. It's something we have to maintain in every game. Against Betis, we conceded three goals easily. And then, it's a different football match. But today we kept the chances down, defended well and didn't make it easy for our opponents to win. And that's important.

On his message to Mallorquinistas: Thank you, Mallorcans.

Omar Mascarell:

The victory: Yes, the three points are vital because we knew there was a break coming up. Because it was our home game against a rival that does things very well, that was on a good run, that is doing great things. I think the team has been spectacular, especially defensively. We knew what we had to do today, we had to be very practical, because they are a team that capitalises on mistakes very quickly, and in the end I think the team has been very serious. We knew what to do at all times and we got the three points, which is the most important thing in this type of match, isn't it? Where very little happens.

The first half: It's very important that practically the first chance we had went in. These are games where you analyse your opponent and know what to expect. We knew it was going to be a head-to-head match, with lots of duels, lots of pressure, and in the end, we knew that effectiveness was going to be key to winning the game, and I think we had a very good counterattack, a very good finish. We took the lead and from then on, the team knew what to do at all times. A clean sheet and three points, which, especially with our fans, are very important.

The team's defensive work: It's not easy at all. Especially with a team that is very good at set pieces and can cross the ball from almost anywhere on the pitch. In the end, you have to be very focused, and I think the team was. We defended spectacularly, and I'll tell you, we're very happy with the team's work, with that unity, with that defensive work, which in the end is what we have to get back to. It's been our strength for a long time, and we can't lose that.

Jagoba Arrasate:

On the victory: I'm very happy with the team's performance. It was a hard-fought victory, but one that feels very good. We needed it, and well, I think it's a giant step forward in terms of the standings, morale and also because now we have two weeks off and, well, the mind also plays an important role and we're all going into this break feeling happier.

On first half: It was the opposite for us, we were falling behind, and this time I think a very good team effort ended with that goal from Muri. From then on, on the day against Alavés, we also took the lead and won, and for us it's also important when we take the lead. It's difficult for the opposition, but it's true that during the league we've often fallen behind and that changes the script of the match. After that, we were able to maintain that result with one of the things you've been emphasising a lot in recent weeks: that defensive solidity, and in particular, aspects such as aggression and concentration. Today, we had that.

On defence: We defended as a team, starting from the forwards. We did a great job, we had to spread out, we had to stay focused and aggressive. The team needed that a little bit and, well, I'm also happy with that solidity, with the clean sheet.

On Bergström: I'm happy for everyone, including Lucas, who was playing his second game. I think he played well. He didn't have much work to do, but when he had to intervene, he did it well. I'm happy with everyone.

On home games: That's where we had room for improvement from last year, and apart from that first game against Barça here, the results are good, we're picking up points and we have to keep it up.

On the Gegants match: Well, it's going to be special, but we're looking forward to it, aren't we? To face a special day with the basketball people, the FIBWI, to see how we can play that match, they'll have to help me. It's true that we have important players out, such as Muriqi and Lucas Bergström, who I think would be important for playing basketball. But anyway, we'll manage.
