RCD Mallorca president Andy Kohlberg has addressed the fans with the following official statement:
We know this is a difficult time, and the first thing I want to do is apologise to all Mallorca fans. We know we have not achieved our goal and we must take responsibility for this. I sincerely apologise to all of you who have supported the club for so many years.
I would also like to thank all the fans for your support over the last 10 years and throughout this past season. The support and connection you have with the players is incredibly important to us and to them. And we are hopeful that this will continue.
We know this is moment hurts. It hurts us as a club and it hurts you as fans. We are facing this situation with humility and a sense of responsibility, but I want to make it clear that our determination to continue working professionally and to keep investing in the club for the future remains as strong as ever.
We remain a highly ambitious club. We want to return to LaLiga as soon as possible and we want to continue with the professionalism we have demonstrated over the last five years in the division.
We have built a very solid foundation and structure over the last 10 years, both in the sporting and business areas, and we will continue to look ahead. We will continue to invest in the club, in the staff and in the stadium.
We are very proud to be here on the island. Obviously, we are disappointed. We didn’t achieve our goal of staying in LaLiga, but we want to bounce back quickly, as we always have, and return to LaLiga as soon as possible.
We know that returning to the top flight is a demanding goal, but we’ve achieved it before and, collectively, as a group, if we remain united as a team, as an island, and with all the fans behind us, supporting the players during matches and throughout the week, we’re very confident that we’ll be back in LaLiga soon.
Thank you for your support over all these years. We look forward to a successful season and, with your backing of the players and the club, we strive to achieve our goal of returning to LaLiga as soon as possible.
