Matija Nastasić signs for RCD Mallorca

The centre back joins the club on a free transfer from Fiorentina

We are delighted to announce centre back Matija Nastasić has joined the club on a free transfer from Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Serbian has signed a contract which will run until June 2023 with the option for an additional 12-month extension.

Nastasić arrives on the island having also previously played for Manchester City and Schalke 04.

The 29-year-old has featured 28 times in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League in addition to representing his national side on 34 occasions.

"It's a new opportunity for me,” he told club media. “It's something new for me. I have played in England, Germany and Italy and this is a new challenge for me. When I saw the possibility of playing for RCD Mallorca, I didn't hesitate.

"It is very important for the team to stay in Primera División. I am sure that this year's group is even better, with a better team and better players. We are going to work hard to succeed.

“My main goal is to help the team as much as possible, both on and off the pitch. We are going to achieve great things.”

On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish Matija a warm welcome to the club.
