Match Report: UD Almería 0-0 RCD Mallorca

We are held to a goalless draw at the Power Horse Stadium

We were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against UD Almería at the Power Horse Stadium as our unbeaten run extends to four games.

Javier Aguirre opted to use Omar Mascarell as part of a back five, while our loanee Iddrisu Baba was named among the hosts’ substitutes.

The first opportunity of the game fell to Dani Rodríguez in the eighth minute when a misplaced pass arrived to his feet in a dangerous position, although the midfielder could not get his effort on target.

Samu Costa was next to try his luck in the 36th minute, and while he managed to work the keeper, his attempt was well saved.

Cyle Larin came close to breaking the deadlock when he latched onto a whipped cross, but his attempt to steer the ball towards goal was blocked as we headed into the break goalless.

Costa showed how dangerous he was at set-pieces as a flicked header slipped just wide of the post after the restart, before Larin attempted an audacious half volley on the edge of the box that flew a couple of inches off target.

The hosts thought they had taken the lead in the 82nd when a quick counter saw Ramazani poke the ball into an empty net, but there was little doubt he had fouled Antonio Raillo in the build-up to the goal with a clear push in the back.

We gave UD Almería a late scare in the final minutes when Javi Llarbes was teed up with a clever cut back from Larin, but our winger’s attempt went wide of the post as we had to settle for a point.
