Match Report: Sevilla FC 2-0 RCD Mallorca

Youssef En-Nesyri and Bryan Gil strike as we suffer defeat at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán

First-half goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and Bryan Gil saw us fall to a 2-0 defeat against at Sevilla.

Javier Aguirre handed loan signing Ludwig Augustinsson his first start since his move in January while Matija Nastasić joined Martin Valjent and Antonio Raillo in a back five.

The hosts were on the front foot from the first whistle and almost took the lead through En-Nesyri when the forward latched onto a Jesus Navas cross, although Predrag Rajković made a fine stop to keep the scoreline level.

Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta was the man of the moment just minutes later as Sevilla came close through Suso, although our midfielder cleared off the line.

En-Nesyri gave the hosts the lead in the 28th minute when he raced onto a long ball from Gueye and slipped the ball past the oncoming Rajković.

Bryan Gil doubled Sevilla’s advantage five minutes before the break when he latched onto a low cross into the box as we headed into the dressing room with it all to do in the second half.

We were much improved after the restart, although despite our best efforts, we were unable to create anything meaningful.

Despite lacking in chances, we were left scratching our heads as a Badé’s foul on Vedat Muriqi as the last man did not result in a red card.

Kang-In Lee had our best opportunity of the game when he fired over the bar from a free-kick as we succumbed to a frustrating 2-0 defeat.
