Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-1 Celta Vigo

The points are shared as we unveil our new and updated stadium

Cyle Larin’s strike saw us come from a goal behind and share the points as we drew 1-1 with Celta Vigo.

Follow the inauguration ceremony of our renovated stadium, Javier Aguirre named a strong starting XI as Gio Gonzalez started in central defence and Samu Costa featured in midfield.

We could not have wished for a worst start as the visitors took the lead in the 10th minute when Iago Aspas converted from distance during one of Celta Vigo’s few offensive moves.

Larin had our first sight at goal in the 22nd minute, but his strike from a tough angle went high and wide of the target.

He wouldn’t need asking twice however as our striker poked home a Pablo Maffeo’s cross from close range on the stroke of half-time as we headed into the break level.

Antonio Raíllo came close after the restart with a flicked header, but his effort dragged wide of the far post.

Larin had another chance just past the hour mark, but the centre forward’s close-range header lacked power and was comfortably saved.

He had one final chance in the closing stages of the fixture, but again was denied by a good save as we shared the points.
