Match Report: Osasuna 1-1 RCD Mallorca

Sergi Darder’s equaliser ensures the points are shared as we take a step closer to survival

Sergi Darder’s second-half equaliser ensured we picked up a point in our 1-1 draw against Osasuna as our fight for survival continues.

Javier Aguirre opted to play Cyle Larin as centre forward in place of the suspended Vedat Muriqi, while Nacho Vidal started at right back.

Rubén García Santos had the first chance of the game in the ninth minute when he beat his marker and tested Predrag Rajkovic at the near post.

We almost provided an instant response to the early scare, although Darder’s attempt was blocked after he capitalised on a loose ball in the box.

Jon Moncayola gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute when he managed to get hold of the ball on the edge of the box and fire into the bottom corner.

The frenetic start would not continue as chances became few and far between and we headed into the break behind.

Rajkovic had to be at his best 10 minutes after the restart to deny Iker Muñoz’s stinging strike from the edge of the box.

The hosts piled on the pressure as Moncayola tried his luck from distance but was denied by our shot stopper.

We pulled ourselves level in the 65th minute when Darder latched onto a loose ball from a corner and found the bottom corner with a powerful drive from distance.

Toni Lato and then Vidal had late chances to find a winner, although their efforts were unable to find the back of the net as we settled for a point.
