Mallorca and UCAM Murcia called a draw at the Iberostar Estadio in a game packed with clear chances that neither of them could make any profit of. The points leaves both unsatisfied. The University team sees their splendid run brought to a halt.

Mallorca have only conceded 3 goals in 7 games, and came from a half-decent run of 4 points out of 9 after beating Girona 1-0 and claiming a valuable point at the Canaries (v Tenerife 0-0). These results had finally plucked the team out of danger into safety.

UCAM Murcia however departs from Son Sant Joan airport checking in a point in their hand luggage with keeps intact their unbeaten run and even extends it to six games.

The Balearic team jumped onto the pitch with a few novelties into the lineup, namely Biel Company, Diogo Salomao and Pol Roige.

The Galician strategist pushed the rotation button in order to cater for a demanding calendar with three games in a week with a long journey away to the Atlantic. The students did not risk it, kept their marks and waited for their golden opportunity in the quest of triumph in the Eastern islands which would place their at the top after five undefeated weeks. This chance would come in the 59th minute in the shape of an goal open moment through Jesus Imaz after None set him up but there was no Bulls eye here. In the 75th minute Imaz again would waste another grande chance to break the deadlock but his shot flew too wide. Morillas in the 68th minute did try again but the post repelled it.

Before that in the 46 and 48th minute Mallorca did warn visitors with actions from Pol Roige and Juan Culio. In the first of them visiting goalkeeper Biel Ribas saved the shot with his right foot and in the second chance Culio missiled too high the goal.

Both teams had clear intentions to nick the three points at stake. Murcia insisted, more ambitious than Mallorca than in the first 45 minutes. But Mallorca did not forget about Murcia’s goal. That showed in the chances by Moutinho in the 78th minute and Juan Dominguez in the 88th minute. In the latter, Biel Ribas made an epic save to withhold the point before the referee called it a day.

At the end, points were shared like good brothers at the Iberostar Estadio but none of the teams can actually use those regarding their ambitions in the league.
