We’re delighted to announce Martin Valjent has agreed to a contract extension which will see the defender remain at the club until 2025.
The centre back joined Los Bermellones in 2018 on an initial loan deal which was made permanent the following year and has since made 93 appearances and scored once while helping the side to promotion and a new clean sheet record.
“I’m very happy and very proud,” he told the club’s website. “I feel at home here, like in a family. I believe in the RCD Mallorca project and I'm very happy to be able to stay with the club for a long time.
"I like long-term projects and this club has very clear ideas. They are making a great effort. I hope to wear this shirt for many years to come. Returning to the First Division would be fantastic. I think we're on the right track but we know it's going to be very long and very hard. The big objectives are achieved by rowing together in the same direction.”
We partnered with popular milk brand Laccao by installing two billboards close to the Visit Mallorca Estadi in order to reveal the contract extension with fans – a factor which Valjent says was the key to him staying at the club.
"I feel the affection of the fans and I think the rest of the team feels it too,” he continued. “Nowhere else have I felt as loved as I do at RCD Mallorca. This is one of the reasons why I want to stay here. When you feel so loved on the island and in the dressing room it makes me want to give so much more.”
Laccao is the island's beloved milk and cocoa milkshake and is made according to an original recipe from 1944 which consists of 93% semi-skimmed milk from Granjas de Mallorca, one per cent cocoa powder and two teaspoons of sugar.
