Martin Valjent: 200 games not out

Our defender reaches an impressive milestone against Deportivo Alavés

Martin Valjent reached the impressive milestone of 200 games as an RCD Mallorca player against Deportivo Alavés.

The Slovakian defender joined the club in 2018 from Chievo Verona and since then has become a key member of our senior squad.

Valjent has made 123 appearances in LaLiga, featured 66 times in the division below and played 11 games in Copa del Rey, in addition to helping us to two promotions and scoring a goal.

"It is a pride and a privilege," said Valjent. "In my first year I was on loan and it was clear to me that I wanted to stay a good while at this club. On a professional level, Mallorca changed my career. I was able to reach the LaLiga and luckily, I was able to stay for more than a year. On a family level, my daughter was born on this island. I feel at home here.

Valjent added that the return leg of the play-off for promotion against Deportivo de la Coruña is the game he remembers most fondly because it meant staying at the club and was "an important step". Looking to the future, the Slovak wants to "do something big" and "remain in the history" of RCD Mallorca.
