Manu Morlanes, Jagoba Arraste, Mateu Jaume Morey and Omar Mascarell were on post-match media duties following our 2-1 defeat against Getafe CF. Find out what they had to say below:
Manu Morlanes:
On the match: "A negative evaluation, because we wanted to get the win, it was a bit of a day to get all those people back on board who we felt had fallen off the bandwagon. We couldn't do it, we have to look inside ourselves, see what went wrong and from there find solutions."
On pushing until the last minute: "These are teams that when they take the lead it's very difficult to score against them. We tried with crosses, with Cyle's goal, but it wasn't possible."
On his injury: "I'm fine, I'm looking forward to helping the team again. In the end, where I'm happy is here, I try to work every day to help the team, I was able to do that for a while today. Let's go for more."
Jagoba Arrasate:
On match: "Negative, it's true that we weren't comfortable at any point and, above all, when the result is against us... it's complicated against a team that is playing for relegation and defends like they did. We had one last push, the team tried, but well, it wasn't to be."
On where it went wrong: "A lack of fluency, which is not easy against this type of team, and then, in this type of match, it makes a big difference whether you take the lead or not. It's true that it was a bit of a reflection of the second half of the season, that we struggled to generate and the opposition scored goals with very little; it was impossible. We have to learn from this second half, because the dynamic is dangerous."
On the last game: "It's important for us to finish with one last joy, to finish in the top ten. We're going to try and then rest. We have to have a good market and a good pre-season, and start at the top of our game."
Mateu Jaume Morey:
On the game: "In the end it was the last home game, we wanted, above all, to dedicate the victory to the fans. We wanted to win at home and keep our hopes of going to Europe alive until the last game, but it wasn't to be. In the end we gave everything we had and it wasn't enough. They made the most of their chances, they were able to take advantage, and we lacked that little bit."
On fighting until the last minute: "In the end we knew it was going to be a difficult game, that we would have some chances. Maybe we didn't know how to take advantage of them, maybe we didn't know how to hurt them. I don't think today's game should erase the good season we've had: we've been saved for a couple of weeks now, which was our main objective at the start of the season. At the end of the day, we have lived these weeks with a lot of emotion, with a lot of excitement; it was clear to us that we had that chance and we have given everything. I think that in the end we have to focus on the last remaining game, try to get a positive result in Vallecas and finish the season with a good feeling."
Omar Mascarell:
On the match: "We're leaving quite hurt by today's result, and also a little bit by the way we played. I think that in the end the illusion has hit us very hard: the fans were excited about Europe, we were too and it didn't happen the way we wanted it to. I think it's a hard blow, but it's a good one. Keep your head up, in football you always have to move forward. There are many things to improve, which we will do, and we have to stay together as a group to try to finish the season well. There's one game left, we have to get to 50 points no matter what and, from there, focus on next season, which I'm sure is going to be exciting."
On the final sprint: "In the end, I think it was very hard to see us down 0-2, but it's true that from then on they pulled back a bit. I think the changes also helped us to have a bit more attacking ideas, which is a bit what we needed: we started to attack the box a bit more, to put in more crosses... in the end that brings you closer to scoring goals. We got 1-2 and well, we pushed until the end, but it wasn't enough to get the equaliser."
On the end of the season: "I think it would be very important for the group, and also for the fans, after a blow like the one we took today. I think it's important to reach 50 points, to finish with a win, it's very important for next season. We can't give up, there are 90 minutes to go to get the win and thus close a very good year, with a very good first half of the season. It's true that the second half of the season hasn't been what we wanted, but that can't erase the good work we've done. As I said, we want to finish well for next season, keep going strong, keep growing as a club and as a group, and achieve great things, which is the most important thing."
