Luis García Plaza: ‘With our squad we can compete with RCD Espanyol’

The manager spoke to journalists at his pre-match press conference ahead of our trip to the RCDE Stadium

Luis García Plaza says his side will have to be at their best to beat RCD Espanyol this Sunday afternoon.

We travel to the RCDE Stadium in search of our first win of the season against former manager Vicente Moreno’s new side, although our boss believes we have enough quality in the squad to get a result.

“We can win, but we have to play at a very high level,” he told journalists at his press conference. “We have to be more conscious of our idea of how to play. It’s going to be very long. RCD Espanyol have players at a top level and people who have been there for the best years of the club.

“I’ve asked my players to compete at their best with our weapons available. We have to be aggressive and very intense. We have to have the ball otherwise we’re going to suffer.”

Having secured a loan deal for Brazilian winger Murilo fron Sporting de Braga and then signing Jordi Mboula on a permanent transfer from AS Mónaco, García says he’s overjoyed with his new additions.

"I’m very happy with our latest two signings,” he continued. “I think they are two players who give us speed and width which is what I wanted. We've been after them a long time, and we're glad it materialised. They are two players who come hungry and who know the league."
