Luis García Plaza: ‘We’re going to San Mames to win’
The boss spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference
Luis García Plaza says his side is ready for a tough test against Athletic Bilbao this Saturday evening.
We will be looking to maintain our unbeaten start to the season at San Mames following the international break, and the boss believes his side are heading to the north of Spain with the intention of returning with all three points.
"It is a very intense and physically strong team,” Plaza told journalists. “We have access to all the LaLiga data and it is outrageous. They play with great intensity and at a very high pace throughout the game, they push very hard and are very aggressive.
When they rob you high up the pitch they are very dynamic, but when you dominate them, they have a very fast player like Williams on the break.
“I want a team without fear, with personality, although it will require a lot of hard work against them. We are switched on and we are going to go to Bilbao with the same enthusiasm as always.
“All the rivals are tough and demanding. No game will be easy for us. Everyone will have their demands, but I insist, I want a Mallorca without fear and who plays with personality.”
The boss also gave an update on new arrivals Kang-In Lee and Matthew Hoppe as well as our centre back situation.
“Hoppe and Lee can be on the bench and go out. They are both physically and mentally ready to play.
“Franco Russo is going a little bit slower than we expected, especially in the case of Antonio Raillo who still has ankle discomfort. We'll see if he gets to the Villarreal game. Russo is out of the game so we hope nothing happens with Valjent and Sedlar because we will have to invent something."
