Luis García Plaza: ‘After the first goal, things didn’t work out’

The boss reflected on our defeat at San Mamés

Luis García Plaza spoke to the media after we suffered our first defeat of the season courtesy of a 2-0 loss at Athletic Bilbao. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the match...

"In the first half they were a little better than us. They took the game where they wanted it to go. In the second half, until the goal, we were better than them. After the goal, we have to be smarter. Those are my thoughts.

"After suffering in the first half, in the second I saw that the team could win. We had chances to create danger, but after the goal, things didn't work out for us. From there, there was no game. It bothers me that when we are at our best they scored that goal.

"It was hard for us to build the game. Athletic are a very intense and tough team and they pressed us very well. When we corrected things we did better, but it wasn't enough. From that moment they scored from set pieces and that is where we struggled."

On Kang-In Lee...

"Kang-In has to adapt to how we play, but he is a player who will give us things in the future.”
