Luis García Plaza: ‘This side will give their soul to win’
The manager looked ahead to our hosting of CD Leganés in his pre-match press conference
Luis García Plaza says he has full confidence in his side ahead of our clash with CD Leganés this Friday evening.
As we head into the final 10 games of the season with a slender lead at the top of the table on goal difference, the boss thinks our position in the table is merited – something he’s keen to demonstrate against Los Pepineros.
"I think that, as a team, we have been the best in the category,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “On paper, we may not have the best squad in the category, but we are the best team. This Mallorca was designed to be among the best and it has shown that. We are going to try to correct what we are doing wrong. Hopefully we'll be able to beat CD Leganés and stay in the fight.
"Asier Garitano is a coach I like a lot. He's a coach who has been successful in terms of promotion and I think he's given them emotional stability. They continue to play a game very high up because they have two very important strikers. They are a physical team and mentally very strong. Garitano is an idol there and his team is a candidate to be promoted directly or through the play-offs.”
Having gone our previous two games without victory, the manager believes his side can bounce back with the help of the fans.
"The team has recovered. We've been through a run like this before. We're going to have to fight game by game until the end. Whatever happens, we'll still be in direct promotion. We've come from a bad game and what we have to do is pick ourselves up. I'm sure that the team will be at its best.
“I really liked what the RCD Mallorca fans did again. These fans are the best. I feel very proud of all of them. I hope we can dedicate a win against CD Leganés to them.”
