March Report: RCD Mallorca 1-0 CD Leganés

Antonio Raíllo’s header gives us an important three points as we return to winning ways

Antonio Raíllo’s first-half header proved to be decisive as we returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over CD Leganés at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.

Luis García Plaza made just once change to the side which lost 3-0 to CF Fuenlabrada a few days prior as Antonio Sánchez returned to the starting XI having recovered from injury at the expense of Aleix Febas.

Chances would be few and far between for most of the fixture, although Dani Rodríguez had an early opportunity which required Asier Riesgo to save well.

The game’s only goal came in the 26th minute when Raíllo rose highest to meet Salva Sevilla’s cross and power a header past the outstretched Riesgo to the delight of the home dugout.

The opening 45 minutes concluded with both sides limited to a handful of half-chances as we headed into the dressing room with a slender lead.

We came flying out of the blocks upon the restart and could have had a second courtesy of Dani Rodríguez combining with Antonio Sánchez, but the former was unable to get his shot on target.

The remainder of the match read from a similar script as the first half as neither side were able to find much clarity in the final third, although the game would not end without some late drama. Deep into injury time, Eraso managed to connect with a deep cross and would have secured a dramatic leveller had it not been for a fine save from Manolo Reina to tip away from danger.

Having put our winless run of three games behind us with an important victory against promotion challengers CD Leganés, we now turn our attention to Las Palmas.
