Luis García Plaza: ‘The squad has shown it’s very competitive’
The boss spoke to journalists at his pre-match press conference ahead of our clash with SD Ponferradina
Luis García Plaza says his side has shown they up to the challenge of competing for promotion ahead of our clash with SD Ponferradina.
Undefeated in our previous nine fixtures, the boss believes our form following a gruelling October fixture schedule of six games in two weeks speaks for the quality he has at his disposal.
“The squad has shown that it’s very competitive,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “We have shown that everyone is important and can substitute whoever drops out. Day-to-day everyone has shown me that they are able to play and because of that there won’t be so many rotations. This Sunday’s starting XI isn’t going to be my definitive selection and that’s a good problem to have.
“We are one of those going for second place. I hope the two teams in front of us slip up, but right now RCD Espanyol have spectacular numbers.”
This Sunday’s visitors head to the Visit Mallorca Estadi on the back of ending a poor run of results against AD Alcorcón, and García has warned against underestimating the quality of SD Ponferradina.
“It’s true that SD Ponferradina come into the game having played midweek but they have returned to winning form and that will give them a morale boost ahead of our game. I think SD Ponferradina is a team that leaves little space and has a player who can make the difference in Yuri. It’s a good team in the division.”
