The event will take place on April 9 in Palma

The Balearic Islands Football Federation (FFIB) has announced the first 'Congress on Violence in Sport' to be held on 9 April in Palma.

The initiative aims to strengthen the fight against all forms of violence in sport and to continue promoting the values of respect and harmony in football.

The launch event, which took place at midday today at the FFIB headquarters, featured an opening address by its president, Jordi Horrach, and was attended by the President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, as well as institutional representatives from Palma City Council and the Council of Mallorca, including former RCD Mallorca player and current Island Director of Sport, Toni Prats.

Also taking part in the event were RCD Mallorca’s Corporate CEO, Alfonso Díaz, and former footballer Marcos Martín de la Fuente, alongside other representatives from the sporting and social sectors.

During the conference, which will bring together institutions, federations, clubs and experts from the sporting world, Alfonso Díaz will take part in one of the panel discussions, offering the perspective of professional football on promoting safe and respectful environments both on and off the pitch.
