Joan Sastre: ‘The team was looking for the win against CE Sabadell’
The defender reflected on our first win of the season ahead of our hosting of CD Tenerife this Saturday afternoon
Joan Sastre says he and his team-mates had been in search of their first win of the season against CE Sabadell ahead of this Saturday’s hosting of CD Tenerife.
The defender has been a mainstay in Luis García Plaza’s back four this campaign and will be looking to build on back-to-back clean sheets – starting with Los Blanquiazules on Matchday 4.
“The team is very happy to have added three points,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “It was something we had been searching for. We had prepared really well the week before to get it.
“I’m very happy the boss has put his faith in me. The team is prepared to compete in the Segunda División. We have to be a unit and to be more competitive. You have to be prepared mentally for whatever could happen at any moment because a goal could come at any time. We have to get the best out of ourselves.”
Although this Saturday’s opponents head to the Visit Mallorca Estadi on the back of consecutive defeats, Sastre is well aware of the challenge CD Tenerife poses having beaten Aritz López Garai’s side 2-0 a month ago during our pre-season preparations.
“It’s going to be a difficult game. We got to know them in pre-season. We have to continue with the same dynamic and be strong in defence and with clear ideas. With the strength of the whole team, I’m sure that we’ll get a goal.”
