Javier Aguirre: "We are going to play a very intense game

The boss spoke the media ahead of our clash with CA Osasuna

Javier Aguirre expects a touch challenge ahead of our hosting of CA Osasuna.

Returning from the international break against his former side, Aguirre knows what to expect against a familiar foe.

“I have great memories of Osasuna,” Aguirre told the press. “I came to this country 20 years ago to lead the team and they treated me wonderfully for four years. I only have words of gratitude. They are in the Copa del Rey semifinals and are doing a great job in LaLiga.

“It is a very solid team, which has a very clear idea of what it does on the pitch. They have very good players and a great coach.

“Today the last three players arrived from international duty. It is not easy to prepare the game in this way. Those who arrived were barely able to exercise and did not work with the equipment because it was  counterproductive, especially due to the hours flying and accumulated fatigue.

“They come happy and content because it is always nice to represent your country. We will see tomorrow if they are physically ready to start the game.

"Augustinsson has a sprained ankle that prevents him from being involved in this match and surely in two or three more."

We have the advantage of returning to domestic fixtures at home and Aguirre believes the fans can make the difference.

“We will play with what we have and with our fans because the support and encouragement of the people is essential. We feel it and we need it. We don't want to fall behind. We're in a position where we're halfway there, but we haven't done the work yet, so we're going to play the game with a lot of intensity."
