Javier Aguirre: “The fans have left happy and that is the most important thing”

The boss spoke to the media in his post-match press conference after our 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid

Javier Aguirre was on post-match media duties as his first home game as RCD Mallorca got off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory against Atletico Madrid. Vedat Muriqi got the only goal of the game with an unstoppable penalty in the second half as our run of seven consecutive defeats came to an end. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the match...

"I don't know if it was a very good game for the spectators, but in the end, we got what we were looking for. It was a good time and a good day and the important thing is that people went home happy."

"The team needed a clean sheet. We started with the basics - defend and organise ourselves well. We didn't do much more than our opponents, but in the end, it went our way, which is the most important thing."

On what's next...

"There are seven games left like this one and we have to keep going like this until the end. We are very evenly matched three or four teams and we have to fight it out and hope that everything goes our way."
