Javier Aguirre believes Elche CF will pose a tough test ahead of our clash on Saturday afternoon.
We are looking to close the gap on the hosts at the bottom of the table in our fight for survival, but the boss says we will need to be at our best to get anything out of the game.
"Elche CF is a direct rival and has prepared the match as a final,” he told journalists at his press conference. “We have to rise to the occasion. Our rival plays very good football and it's going to be complicated. We will try to play a serious game and get the three points.”
Heading into Saturday afternoon on the back of a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, Aguirre says he hopes his side can build on our first win in over two months.
"The players have taken a weight off their shoulders. Now I hope they take another step forward and free themselves up a little more.
"I was amazed by the fans the other day. I know that the fans are with us.”
