The boss gave his thoughts after our dramatic 2-1 win against Rayo Vallecano
Javier Aguirre was on post-match media duties after our 2-1 win against Rayo Vallecano which saw us climb out of the drop zone with one game remaining. Pathé Ciss cancelled out Vedat Muriqi’s opener, before Abdón Prats scored in added time to keep our fight for survival alive.
On the match…
"It was an emotional moment. In the second half, Rayo put us in our goal, gave us a terrifying blow, the outlook looked dark, but the changes worked, we were able to score and the fans are happy. We knew it was going to be a tough, emotional match.”
On the last matchday…
"I've been here [in football] for 14 seasons, and it's a bad thing to be dependent on other results. You have to do your thing and at the end look at the results.”
On Abdón…
"A home boy, who feels and lives the colors, is professional and is dedicated. It shows, and he deserves it as he is with his people.”
