Jagoba Arrasate was on pre-match media duty ahead of our trip to Sevilla FC. Find out what the boss had to say below.
On Manu Morlanes and Samu Costa: They are both doing very well, they have to work, accumulate individual minutes and then train with the group. If you come in with that deficit in the group, then you'll feel it. They have done things with the group and I understand that they will have a normal week and both will be ready for next Sunday. That's great news for us.
On defence: During the week we have come at teams - what we did the other day in terms of offensive flow and chances is very good. But we lacked defensive rigour: Las Palmas scored a goal, after two minutes they could have scored another and with the 3-1 also. That's not enough for us to be happy tomorrow, it's something we have to improve. We have had an impact on that and that's the margin for improvement. I said before that I'm equally concerned about the defensive and offensive issues, offensively I think we've taken a small step forward in the last two games, but defensively we're lacking that rigour. We have to get it back for games like tomorrow to have a chance.
On the team: It depends on how you look at it, it's true that it's difficult to win, especially in the second half of the season because all the teams have a lot at stake. There are a number of teams out there, and whoever can get a couple of wins now is going to make a big jump. If we win tomorrow we'll be sixth, but if Sevilla beat us they'll catch us. Everything is still to be decided, so every game is very important. We've broken that run of defeats and four out of six is good - but we can't stop there.
On the table: There are about nine teams, from sixth to 14th, between which there is not such a big difference in terms of points, but there is a difference in terms of ranking in the table. Beyond thinking about whether a result suits us or not, in one match or another, there are going to be a lot of direct confrontations because there are so many teams. What we have to do is what we have done in the last two weeks. But to stay in those positions we have to give our all in games like tomorrow.
On staying up: I don't know, it's true that it's going to be more expensive than last year, but that's fine. If you put the four in front, you can feel more relaxed. We still have 34 points, we still need a little bit to put that four points in front.
On Sevilla: It's a new project, with a new coach and new players too, and I think they have systems that are quite well established. The players are in a great moment, especially up top. They are scoring goals, they are being unbalanced. I think the team has improved and they're going to be in this fight as well. Well, it's a complicated match against a rival that I like the way they play and I think that, as well as playing well, they have players in good form. They're going to demand the best version of us.
On the emotion: They all are, you can't ignore the emotional charge of every match. We're talking about a very important game, you add the fact that you're playing the last game and you already know the results, where you can finish the day. Right now, moreover, it's a direct rival. Emotionally it will be an important match, of course.
On the possible renewal of Dominik Greif: In the end it's up to the sporting director and his team. He is a goalkeeper who is playing, it is clear that I believe in him because he is playing. For him it's been a process, which Leo may also be going through, of not playing, of training and wanting to improve day by day. Now he is having more continuity and I am happy with his performance. I don't go into the possibility of a renewal, because it's the club and it's him, everyone does what they think is fair. I would like the important players to stay at Mallorca for many years. All that being important, I think it is much more pressing what we have in front of us. We have Sevilla in front of us and we have three goalkeepers who are training very well.
On the players called up: It depends. I have analysed Sevilla, I know what we have to do: the weaknesses we have and the strengths we have. Based on that there is a game plan, which you'll see tomorrow and then we'll see the game. As far as the strikers are concerned, if you open up the range and start asking questions of the players, you're dead because you'll get more than 11 players. What you have to see in each game is what's best, the other day is a possibility. It's true that Manu is missing, it's true that Samú is missing, we have Jan Salas. There is a possibility of Darder returning to play inside. In the end we have to optimise the resources we have.
On strikers: At the end of the day they are the ones who finish the work of the others. If they score goals we will be closer to getting good results. Muriqi has now scored three goals in two games, at the time Cyle had a very good run and helped us win. Abdón, in the little he has played, has also scored goals. They are the ones who finish the work of the others and if we do a good job and they are effective in finishing it, we will be closer to getting points.
