Gustavo Siviero will continue as coach RCD Mallorca B next season as we prepare for our campaign in the Tercera RFEF. Find out what the coach and our former player had to say about his renewal as coach below.
How do you assess this renewal?
First of all, I feel satisfaction because it is not usual that after such a bad season in sporting terms they continue to trust in the coach, who is the first figure who usually assumes all the responsibility. In this case, the club has shown confidence in my work and in the process and I obviously value that very much. It also gives me the possibility of being able to reverse or, in some way, in the following season, to erase what we have done in the previous one, from which we have a lot of things to learn and correct.
What have you taken away from this past season to look ahead to next season?
Above all, that we need to become more competitive. We were a team that did a lot of things well, but when it came to resolving games or protecting a result, we had deficits or shortcomings. That's where we have to focus. We have to know that, based on a process and a way of playing, as we understand we have to do, we have to be much more effective in the areas, because it is also part of the learning and training process of the players. We have to put the emphasis on the result, not in any way, but on the priority objective that you have when you face a rival, which is to try to beat them, be better than them and beat them.
What will Gustavo Siviero's Mallorca B be looking for?
First of all, that the training sessions or each session is as rich as the demands of a player who is in the step prior to the first team. We have to be very demanding on a daily basis and obviously from there, we have to be protagonists in the competition. We want to be as high as possible, or we're going to want to be as high as possible, because I repeat that it's the best thing for the training of footballers.
And to continue with the preparation of players for a possible jump to the first team, right?
We have to try to offer the best possible solutions in case the first team has an emergency or even wants to see players. The players who go there, to the first team, to train or to take part in some way, have to be up to the task. And that's on us. We have to give those players as many tools as possible so that the change is not so big. That's what we're going to aim for: that the training sessions and the day-to-day work are very demanding and that we compete well so that the players arrive as well prepared as possible.
