Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-0 Deportivo Alaves

Takuma Asano's goal secures our first win of the season

We got our first win of the season courtesy of Takuma Asano's strike in our 1-0 victory against Deportivo Alavés at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

Jagoba Arrasate handed a first start of the season to Marc Domenech on the wing while Pablo Maffeo was named at right back.

We started the stronger side but had little show for our dominance as neither side were able to get a sight at goal during the opening exchanges.

We took the lead in the 37th minute when Asano combined with Domenech for a quick one-two before the Japanese international ran through on goal and found the bottom corner.

We took the lead into the break with the visitors yet to really trouble Leo Roman.

This was to change after the restart as Roman had to get across well to block an effort at his near post before a looping header from a corner bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Roman then had to be at full stretch in the 79th minute to make an acrobatic save to push away Vicente's powerful strike from a difficult angle.

Substitute Mateu Morey had a late chance to put the game to bed but had his effort cleared off the line, but we saw out the advantage to secure our first win this season.
