Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-1 Atletico Madrid

Vedat Muriqi rescues a point with a late equaliser

Vedat Muriqi's 84th minute equaliser ensured the points were shared against Atletico Madrid as we drew 1-1 at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix gracias al gol de Vedat Muriqi en  el 84'.

Jagoba Arrasate opted for Takuma Asano in attack alongside Muriqi while Mateu Morey continued at right back in a five-man defence.

Pablo Barrios gave us an early warning in the seventh minute when he crashed a powerful drive effort against the post from distance.

This pressure resulted in a penalty five minutes later for a handball but Leo Roman did well to get down low and push Julián Álvarez's effort wide of the post.

The opening exchanges would not maintain its frentic rhythm as we headed into the break with little to seperate the two sides.

We were given a numerical advantage in the 69th minute after a slow start to the second half as Alexander Sørloth received his marching orders for a high and dangerous challenge on Antonio Raíllo.

The visitors took the lead through Conor Gallagher when the midfielder put the finishing touch from close range on a loose ball from an initial save against an effort from Marcos Llorente in the 79th minute.

We only needed six minutes to get level as substitute Jan Virgili found space to cut inside, whip a ball into the box and find Muriqi who made no mistake with his head.

The centre forward's late goal ensures we register a point ahead of our next fixture against Real Sociedad.
