Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-2 Getafe CF

The loss sees us miss out on European football in our final home game of the season

Our hopes of European football ended as we fell to a difficult 2-1 defeat to Getafe CF in our final home of the season

Jagoba Arrasate switched to a back four at the expense of Jose Copete with Pablo Maffeo pushing on as a winger and Mateu Morey starting at right back.

We almost got off to a nightmare start as Alan Nyom surged from right back and rattled the crossbar in the third minute.

Antionio Raillo had our first chance of the first half when he climbed highest to meet a corner but headed over the bar.

Chances were few and far between in a subdued first half as we headed into the break goalless.

The visitors took the lead 10 minutes after the restart when Mauro Arambarri ghosted into the box and finished from close range.

Getafe made it two goals to the good in the 65th minute when Christantus Uche found the top corner from the edge of the box.

Cyle Larin pulled a late goal back in the 93rd minute to set up a tense finish when he headed home Sergi Darder’s cross, but we fell to defeat.
