Match Report: Real Betis 3-0 RCD Mallorca

Antony's brace and Abde's strike saw us fall to a disappointing loss away from home

We were unlucky to lose 3-0 to Real Betis on a frustrating evening at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

Jagoba Arrasate continued with Lucas Bergstrom in goal while Vedat Muriqi returned to the centre forward role from our Copa del Rey first round fixture earlier in the week.

We started the stronger side as Jan Virgili and Muriqi had earliy chances but where unable to open the scoring.

Against the run of play the hosts opened the scoring through Antony on the 10th minute when the winger unleashed an unstoppable strike from distance.

The winger would strike again just past the half-hour mark with a powerful effort to make double Real Betis' advantage.

Abde would add a third minutes later when he found the back of the net as we headed into the break with it all to do in the second half.

We were much improved after the break but were unablet to generate goal-scoring opportunities.

Pablo Torre, Omar Mascarell and Takuma Asano were all introduced as we looked to get back into the game, and while Virgili and Muriqi would catch sight of goal, we headed back the island empty handed.
